BRITTANY NELSON | TRADITIONAL SECOND GRADE TEACHER

My Email: brittany.nelson@washk12.org

Hello! My name is Brittany Nelson. My husband and I just moved here from Arizona, where I taught for 6 years. He just got into the Rocky Vista Medical program and I could not be more proud. We have two adorable dogs that we love and spoil rotten. I’m not typically an outdoorsy person (especially with Arizona heat) but with Utah’s beautiful scenery and weather, I think that might change. I can usually be found watching my favorite tv shows, drawing, playing volleyball, or shopping. I am so excited to be here and I look forward to having a great year!

MIREIA CODINA | SECOND GRADE SPANISH DUAL IMMERSION/ALP TEACHER

My Email: mireia.monmanycodina@washk12.org

I come from the stunning region of Catalonia in Spain, which is absolutey beautiful. My little city is near Barcelona, and it’s a great place to live. Teaching has always been my passion, starting from when I volunteered with the Girl Scouts and taught at a small school in Nicaragua. It’s been more than 17 years now, and I still believe that teaching is an incredible way to share wonderful things with our students while also learning amazing things from them. It’s truly amazing! When I have free time, I love being outdoors, especially in the mountains, with my family and friends. I enjoy activities like biking, running, climbing, and skiing. But you know what my absolute favorite hobby is? Building human towers, also called “castellars.” It’s such an exciting and challenging activity, and it really brings people together as a team. We need everyone’s strength to reach our goals, and that’s what makes it so special.
