Communication

We believe effective communication between home and school is essential to the academic and social success of all of our students.  When parents, teachers, and the school work together, we know great things happen with our students!  Therefore, we will communicate as a school in the following ways:

Monday Messages: Every Monday, any important information, flyers, or other announcements go home in students’ backpacks.  Additionally, an electronic version of Monday Messages also goes out each Monday.  The electronic version contains important information relating to the school, upcoming events, service opportunities, PTO updates, and community activities and resources.  The electronic Monday Messages are sent out each week via email and text.  Additionally, Monday Messages are posted and archived on the school’s website.

Social Media: Our school is very active on social media.  Follow and like us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.  Each week there are several posts related to school activities and important school information.  Each of these social media platforms can be accessed on the homepage of the school’s website.

School Messenger: Periodically, there will be other important announcements, reminders, or information that needs to be communicated separate of the Monday Messages.  When these notices occur, they will be do most often through SchoolMessenger – a function of PowerSchool.  Messages in this format will usually go home via phone, email, and text.  To receive texts, do the following:

  1. Make sure your contact information (primary cellular phone number) is up to date by logging in to your PowerSchool Account and accessing the “Demographics” page.
  2. Opt in to SMS Messaging by sending the word YES, via text message, to the number 67587. SchoolMessenger will only send text messages to cell phone numbers whose recipients have agreed to receive them.

If more than one parent wishes to receive School Messenger communications for the same child, they need to download the School Messenger app and designate their contact preferences in the settings for each student.

Classroom Communication: In addition to all of this school-wide communication, each classroom teacher will regularly communicate with parents.  Each teacher does this in their own way – some send home emails while others send home newsletters.

Questions/Comments: If you ever have a question, comment, or concern that is not addressed in the other forms of school-wide and classroom-wide communication, you are always welcome to email teachers or school admin directly, call them at the school, or schedule an appointment to meet in person.
