Activities

Diamond Valley offers a myriad of activities and positive experiences for students throughout the school year. Here is a list of opportunities for students to participate in. If you have any questions about these activities, please contact your student’s teacher for more information.

  1. Bike for Books Reading Contest – students can turn in their book tickets for a chance to win a bike!
  2. Spirit Fridays – Students are encouraged to wear their school shirts to earn prizes for themselves and their class. These are also early out days, school is out at 12:00 pm on Fridays.
  3. STEAM Explo Classes – students are given an opportunity each Friday to work in small groups on hands-on STEAM activities.
  4. Student Council – Students must apply to participate and meetings are Wednesdays at 8:00 am
  5. Diamondback Show Choir – Students must have a permission slip to join. Practices are every Tuesday at 8:00 am. Enter the gym from the back playground.
  6. Lego League – Students must have a permission slip to join. Practices are Thursdays after school, 3:30-5:00 pm and during Explo on Fridays. A regional competition is held at Utah Tech University on a Saturday in January, TBA.
  7. PIE Nights – “Parents In Education” is a night for teachers to present to parents in a group setting about the teaching strategies and programs that they use in the classroom, and how parents can reinforce that learning at home. Fall: September 6-7, 2022. Spring: TBA
  8. SEP Weeks – “Student Education Plans” individual meetings with your student’s teacher(s) where you can see the progress your student is making and discuss any concerns you may have. This is also an early out week, school will be out at 12:00 pm! Fall: November 14-18, 2022. Spring: February 21-24, 2023.
  9. White Ribbon Week – September 19-23, 2022, Internet Safety Awareness.
  10. 5th Grade Maturation – October 12, 2022, presented by the school nurse.
  11. Storytelling Festival – Monday, October 24, 2022 during school hours. Students must submit an entry form by October 18, they can be found in the office or printed at home.
  12. STEAM Career Family Night – Thursday, October 27, 2022. 6:00 pm. This event is for the whole family! Professionals from different fields present about career opportunities and fields of study. Food trucks will be on site from 5:00-8:00.
  13. Halloween Parade – Monday, October 31, 2022 at 2:30 pm. Family members are invited to watch the parade. Our choir will perform and students are invited to wear school appropriate costumes.
  14. Book Fair – held in the gym during SEP week, November, 14-18.
  15. Loved Ones and Donuts – Friday, November 18, 2022. 7:30-8:45 am. Any family member may accompany the student to a special doughnut breakfast.
  16. Poetry Contest – entries due December 9, 2022.
  17. Virtual Talent Show – Monday, January 23, 2023. Entries need to be turned in by January 18.
  18. Art contest – Entries due Feb 16, 2023; entries will be on display during SEP week, February, 21-24.
  19. History Day (4-5 Grade) – Completed first week of February in classroom, then students will demonstrate for the school on February 13, 2023, and possibly district, date TBA.
  20. Spelling Bee – January 23, 2023. K-2 will be held at 1:15 pm, 3-5 will be at 2:15 pm.
  21. Geography Challenge – February 3, 2023. Completed in the classroom, the top three students are invited to the district competition, date TBA.
  22. Dr Seuss Reading Week and Parent Reading Picnic – March 6-10, 2023, concludes with a reading picnic on March 10 at 11:15 am, students can invite a family member to come read with them during school.
  23. Science and Engineering Fair – Monday, April 17, 2023. Students must have an entry form and a physical entry for either Science or Engineering. The top student in each category is invited to the district competition, date TBA.
  24. Family Week – February 13-16, 2023, includes our annual family pool party at SHAC, date TBA.
  25. Caine’s Arcade – Friday, March 24, 2021. Students are invited to bring in a homemade game for the other students to try out.
  26. Color Run – Saturday, March 25, 2023. Register in advance or day-of starting at 8 am. Color run starts at 9:00 am with a pancake breakfast afterwards.
  27. Kite Festival – April 1, 2023, @ Utah Tech University, 10am-7pm
  28. STEAM Arts Family Night – Thursday, May 4, 2023. 6:00 pm. This event is for the whole family! Professionals from different fields present about artistic fields of study and ways to enjoy art.
  29. Teacher Appreciation Week – May 1-5, 2023
  30. Field Day – May 23, 2023, starts at 1:15 pm
