Dr. Brandon Yost | PrincipalMy Email: email@example.com
Dr. Brandon L. Yost grew up in the small farm town of Kamas, Utah, as the oldest of four boys, and graduated from South Summit High School. After high school, he attended Utah Valley University where he earned his Associate’s Degree in Drafting Technology. Brandon then transferred to BYU-Hawaii where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in TESOL and also completed his Teaching Certificate in Secondary Education.
While in Hawaii, Brandon met his beautiful wife, Collette. Together, they have six wonderful children – Dallin, Emmalee, Felicity, Gavin, Hunter, and Iley. When they left Hawaii, Brandon took his first teaching job at Snow Canyon Middle School where he taught 8th and 9th graders in the subjects of ESL, Latinos in Action, Reading, and Spanish.
Dr. Yost completed his M.Ed. degree in Educational Leadership at Southern Utah University in 2011 and finished his Ph.D. degree in Teacher Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2015. During his last year of doctoral studies, Dr. Yost began working as the Title I Coordinator at Sunset Elementary School where he worked until his appointment as the fortunate principal at Diamond Valley Elementary School in the spring of 2017. Dr. Yost has loved his time at DVES (and hopes for many years of “more time”) where he enjoys working with the Diamond Valley Diamondback student body, faculty, and community.
Darlene Tanner | Learning CoachMy Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Darlene Tanner has been teaching school over 20 years. She has taught preschoolers, kindergartners, 4th and 5th graders and loves them all! Mrs. Tanner has a Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a Master’s of Education degree from Southern Utah University along with an extra certificate in Gifted Education. In her own words:
"I have been a proud Diamondback for 22 years and have seen lots of awesome kids go through our school. Now I get to meet the children of those that went to Diamond Valley as students! I love my neighborhood in Diamond Valley and have lived here for 27 years now with my husband, children and animals. We have four children and they all went to Diamond Valley Elementary School. Now, two of my eight grandchildren attend with me. We have two dogs, two horses, a goat and a cat. I love to read, ride horses, walk my dogs, hang out with family and friends, travel and go camping. A fun fact about me is that I have lived in 18 different houses in 9 different states in my life."
Michele D’Avignon | CounselorMy Email: email@example.com
I am so excited to be the new counselor at Diamond Valley Elementary School and cannot wait to learn more about the students. I have been teaching at Lava Ridge Intermediate School in Santa Clara since 2006. During my time there, I had the pleasure of teaching 6th grade language arts, social studies, math support, and study skills for special education, English as a Second Language (ESL), and at-risk students. I graduated from Dixie State University in Elementary Education with an endorsement in ESL in 2007. I went on to get my Special Education license from Southern Utah University in 2009. I was the ESL coordinator at Lava Ridge for three years, and I taught the ESL endorsement class for educators in the district for two years. But my greatest desire was to counsel students who needed extra assistance at school. In 2015, I began my Master's degree in Psychology with an emphasis in School Counseling at Utah State University. Along with being the counselor in Diamond Valley on Tuesdays and Fridays, I counsel students at Enterprise Elementary on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Tuesday and Thursday nights, I teach an English class for adults who are learning English as another language at Southwest Adult High School in St. George. If that was not enough...I am working on getting certified to be a screener for students who are dyslexic. This does not leave a lot of free time for my two children. My son, Robert, is a senior this year at Snow Canyon High School, and my daughter, Sophia, is in 9th grade at Snow Canyon Middle School. I enjoy hiking with my best friend and hanging out with family and friends. I look forward to work with your students this year!
Sari Jones | Finance SecretaryMy Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
My name is Sari Jones and I have lived in Diamond Valley for the past 16 years. I grew up in Southern California and moved to Utah as a teenager. I LOVE to continually learn new things and would spend all day reading books if I could. I have 4 kids, two of which have attended Diamond Valley Elementary. Many of you have seen my husband and myself helping in the classrooms at Diamond Valley over the years, and we absolutely love what an amazing school it is. In my free time I love to experiment with recipes in the kitchen. Luckily my family likes everything I make!! I also enjoy spending time with my family going on adventures and learning the history of the places we visit.
